Subscription Databases: Setting for On-Campus Access
To access subscription databases such as EBSCO Academic Search Premier on-campus with a Langara owned computer, please ensure that the proxy setting in your Internet Browser is set to:
http://proxylb.langara.bc.ca/proxy.pac
If you use more than one browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape, etc.) you will need to ensure that the proxy setting is in place for each of them. See below for simple instructions on how to configure Internet Explorer 6.0 and Mozilla 1.4
A common error you will receive if you do not have this proxy setting in place is a screen asking you for an ID and password to access the selected database. There is no ID and password available. Access on-campus should be seamless once the proxy setting is configured in your browser(s).
This proxy setting applies to on campus access only with a Langara owned computer. Do not apply this setting to your home computer.
Off-campus access requires logging in with a Langara ID and password.
