Interlibrary Loans

Books and photocopies of articles from journals that are not in the Langara College Library collection may be obtained through our interlibrary loan arrangements with other BC libraries. You may:

• submit a request online
• fill out a print form at the Reference Desk, on the first floor of the library.

Please allow 3-5 working days for delivery of journal articles, and up to 10 working days for books.

1. Who can request an Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?
   All currently registered Langara students
2. What can I borrow?
   Books and photocopied articles from libraries within British Columbia. Excluded are course textbooks, materials already held at Langara Library, and materials limited by copyright or licensing agreements.
3. How many items can I borrow through ILL?
   The limit is 5 books and 5 articles per assignment
4. Does it cost anything?
   No! ILL is free for students! However, the library has to pay a fee for each ILL that we get, which is why there is a limit to the number of requests you can receive.
5. How long does it take for an ILL item to arrive?
   Please allow:
   • 3 to 5 working days for journal articles
   • Up to 10 workings days for books
6. How do I know my ILL has arrived?
   You will be notified by email when your ILL has arrived, so be sure to check your MyLangara email. We will also use your MyLangara email to notify you if there any issues with filling your request.
7. How long can I borrow an item through ILL?
   Usually the loan period is two weeks, but it depends on the item (some have loan periods of only 1 week). Unfortunately, you can not renew ILL items.
8. Can I keep a photocopied article??
   Any photocopied material is yours to keep.
9. Where do I pick up my ILL?
   Present your library card at the Check-Out Desk on the first floor of the library, and we will get it for you.
10. Where do I return my ILL?
    Please return all ILL items to Langara College Library, NOT to the lending library (ie: the library it came from).
