To generate excitement and present the concept for each Studio 58 production we have what’s called an All-School production meeting. This is a coming together of all the students and the creative team, as well as staff and faculty. Here are a few shots from the 4PLAY 2012 gathering:

It’s always a whirlwind of activity in the basement when we produce 2 shows at once, which is what happened at the beginning of the term when Julius Caesar ran in the Main Theatre and Soul Resource played in SO32. Our audiences experienced a new and exciting interpretation of a Shakespeare classic and a risky new work written by our 4th term students. We extend a huge thanks to all our patrons who attendedthese shows & look forward to seeing you in the theatre for 4PLAY: New Work by Excited Writers!

Carmen Aguirre wins Canada Reads 2012

A heartfelt congratulations to graduate Carmen Aguirre whose book Something Fierce – Memoirs of a Revolutionary Daughter won Canada Reads 2012. The non-fiction book is Aguirre’s memoir of being taken from her home in Vancouver by her mother, who was part of a revolutionary movement opposing Augusto Pinochet in the 1970s. Aguirre grew up amid political struggle, torn in her teen years between boys and pop music, and political activism. We couldn't be more proud and thrilled. Now everyone go read this great book!
